When you take the train, you often face several difficulties in arriving on time at the station, once you have arrived, you still have to find the right platform. In other words, you are in a hurry and realize you are starving once you are in the train, too late...
How can you avoid having a rumbling stomach for several hours in the train ?
• If you are leaving early in the morning :
1. You can prepare some food in you backpack to eat once in the train. Cookies or muffins are a good start. You can also grab some fruits (more convenient to eat in the train than a peach) but don't go bananas...
2. Before leaving you just have to fill a thermos with hot coffee / tea / milk (whatever you prefer).
• If you leave during the day :
3. In the morning you may feel hungry around 10:00 or 11:00. Take some biscuits or cakes (it is even better if you made them before leaving: Yummy cookie - Happy belly ! )
4. You can also treat yourself with some candies, especially il you are watching a movie (visit our ideas of movies post if you are looking for some).
5. For those who care about their health, you can take some dried fruits such as almonds, hazelnuts or nuts in a plastic bag.
• If you don’t want to spend $15 for a ridiculously insipid sandwich bought in the train, you should :
6. Prepare you own food before leaving. You can make yummy sandwiches / salad or even take the leftovers from you fridge so that they won’t go back during your absence. We still advise you not to take sticky cheese…
7. Buy a wrap / sandwich / salad / pizza slice near the station. If you don’t want to queue for a long time waiting for your panini to warm up, you can go a little further, outside of the station.
8. Eat sushis ! It is a really convenient kind of food to eat in the train, and there are often sushi shops near the stations !
• If you are travelling by night :
9. You should avoid eating crackers or chips during the night if you don’t want the passenger sitting next to you to glare at you.
10. Once again, candies or fruits if you want to watch a movie ! Chocolate can also make you feel better if your train has been delayed.
• Finally, don’t forget to :
- Take some water !
- Discreetly check you don’t have a pice of salad stuck between your teeth.
- Pick up your debris !
